Participating in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports tournaments could bring life-changing experiences, given the prestige and prizes that come along with winning. But there is never an easy way to win victoriously. To most of their fans, MLBB professional players are idols who exhibit dominance through their legendary wins and gameplay. But on the backstage, these pro players are much like their fans—vulnerable individuals who suffer a lot from real-life problems outside the Land of Dawn.
LEVEL UP: Amazon Prime Docuseries on Esports World Cup
This is what MLBB players Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, Michelle “Chell” Siswanto, and Cindy “Cinny” Siswanto want to impart to their supporters as they star in the upcoming first-ever Esports World Cup (EWC) documentary series, “Level Up”, which will launch on Amazon’s streaming platform Prime Video from 6 June.
The docuseries puts the spotlight on players to tell their stories of adversities and triumphs that not a lot of fans know about. For Sanford, Chell, and Cinny, their inclusion in the series provides MLBB players a platform to push for representation and share their real-life stories that can inspire fans from around the globe who look up to them, and it recognizes the game’s global presence.
“Being featured in the docuseries is important to me as it gave me a platform to share more about my life story and the struggles I had to face before winning a title or participating in a major tournament, like the MSC 2024. I feel honored to be selected to tell my stories to global esports fans alongside other esports icons. I want the world to know that no matter how competitive tournaments are, we are still people who face real-life challenges. It’s not just about winning—we need to give importance to the things that matter most, like family.” Sanford said.

Sanford had to participate in the biggest mid-year MLBB tournament, bearing the weight of his challenges and the pressure to win for his country.
Much like Sanford, Indonesian sisters Chell and Cinny from Team Vitality also had their fair share of challenges. Both suffered a heartwrenching experience of losing their grandfather the day of their arrival in Riyadh. Not known to many, Chell and Cinny mustered the courage to compete for their country in MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) at EWC 24, while in grief. To them, being part of the docuseries means representation; it is a win that allows them to share their inspiring stories with aspiring young female pro players.
“With this docuseries, we would love to see our fans stay passionate about their love for the game and esports. If you truly love this path, I hope you pursue it wholeheartedly and do it for yourself and the people you love,” added Cinny.
“It’s a meaningful opportunity for us to represent women in the gaming community who share the same struggles or challenges, and show that female players also deserve a spotlight. We feel honored and truly grateful to be included in the docuseries,” said Chell.
Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, said, “Having MLBB pro players, highlighting mobile esports participants featured in an international docuseries, is a reflection of MLBB’s expansive global presence. More importantly, this docuseries provides our talents like Sanford, Chell, and Cinny, a platform to share their inspiring stories of grit and determination with the global audience.”
“We are proud of Chell and Cinny for their rightful inclusion in the docuseries. This recognizes women in mobile gaming, aligning well with our goal to promote diversity and inclusivity in the MLBB esports ecosystem. MLBB has been at the forefront of empowering women esports athletes on the global stage. We hope that their stories continue to inspire young girls who look up to them to take up space in esports.” Ray added.
MOONTON Games remains committed to pushing inclusivity and diversity in the MLBB esports ecosystem. During the inaugural EWC last year, MLBB was the only esports title to have a professional open tournament and competition dedicated to women. MWI at EWC 25 hits another milestone as it unveiled a 16-team lineup. Moreover, MSC at EWC 25 welcomed Japan and Vietnam securing their own dedicated Wild Card slots, further expanding the tournament’s competitive landscape and global reach. This year, the tournaments have become bigger, but the challenge for pro players remains: one game, two championship titles to clinch.
Level Up will premiere on Amazon’s streaming platform Prime Video on 6 June, at 1 am CEST or 7 am GMT+8.
