Tyson Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum believes chances of a comeback are fading with each second that passes.
The ‘Gypsy King’ retired earlier this year following his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
He has since teased a comeback on multiple occasions, including suggesting he would pursue a trilogy fight with the Ukrainian in the UK.
A showdown with Anthony Joshua has forever been eyed by the boxing fraternity, but he has yet to entertain any official talks.
Recently, the former heavyweight world champion put down any hopes of a full return again, insisting while on holiday in Italy that he was happily retired.
And Top Rank promoter Arum believes it can never be ruled out, but it is becoming slowly unobtainable.
“You can never say never with Tyson,” he told talkSPORT.
“But he has made an awful lot of money particularly in his last three fights over in Saudi Arabia, and is now reaping the benefits.
“He is enjoying himself as he should, and as the days and months pass, chances of a comeback become more remote.
“But with Tyson you really never know. Right now, I’d say no he’s retired and will stay retired.
“But in six months, he could change his mind and it’s Tyson Fury of course he can.”
Fury has notoriously retired multiple times in the past before reversing his decision, including after his 2022 victory over Dillian Whyte.
Arum believes fans’ hopes of a Fury return will continue to be defiedMikey Williams/Top RankAnd the opportunity for lucrative purses against the likes of Joshua and Usyk, could always potentially lure him back to the negotiating table.
There is belief with many that Fury has unfinished business brushing shoulders with the heavyweight elite, particularly given how closely he fought with Usyk.
And he could well be called to action depending on the outcome of the current unified champion’s undisputed rematch with Daniel Dubois on July 19.
Fury will always have an array of options if he chooses to come back given his huge commercial pulling power.
But he believes there is currently no reason to return, given his prior achievements in the squared circle.
He said on a social media video: “What would I return for? More belts? I’ve won 22 of them. I’ve been rumped, that’s it, fair play to them, they got their use out of me.
Fury hasn’t fought since losing twice to Usyk in 2024Getty“But I’m happy, I am happy, content with what I’ve done, what I have achieved and what I have accomplished.
“I’ve been around the world and back again, and here we are, this is what retirement looks like for the Gypsy King, not too shabby.
“I’m in no rush at all, to come back to boxing and get my face punched in.
“For what? What would I return for? I ask that question. So here we are, I am retired and I am staying retired.
“I have nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to return for. God bless you all, and see you on the other side.”
