Mother Nature is mixing things up this weekend as a low-pressure system spinning to the south moves through San Diego County with humidity, a chance of showers and even a few rumbles of thunder.
Most areas west of the mountains are expected to receive less than a tenth of an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service. However, mountain areas could see heavier downpours, with rainfall rates nearing half an inch per hour in the strongest cells.
Forecasters note that the exact path of the low will determine how much rain reaches inland and coastal areas. The heaviest precipitation is likely Sunday afternoon and evening as the system exits the region.
High temperatures Sunday are expected to reach 72 to 76 near the coast, 78 inland, 79 to 84 in the western valleys, 71 to 81 in the mountains and 90 to 94 in the deserts, the NWS said.
A second weak low-pressure system is forecast early next week, maintaining mild temperatures and bringing patchy coastal clouds through Tuesday.
By midweek, yet another weak system is expected to glide down the West Coast, helping keep conditions stable with slight warming possible in inland areas by next weekend.
