Berhampur: Continuing its crackdown on antisocial elements, the Berhampur Police arrested seven individuals and seized a significant cache of illegal arms, ammunition and other items.
This has been informed by Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M in a press briefing on Saturday.
The operation, conducted by the Gosaninuagaon and Baidyanathpur Police Stations, targeted organized criminal activities in the region, delivering a strong blow to illegal arms trafficking and related crimes.
The arrested individuals by Gosaninuagaon PS include Suraj Padhy(39) of Laxminurisigha Sahi PS. Bada Bazaar; Gobardhana Patra(38) of Kuladi PS. Bhanjanagar; Sumanta Patra (39) of Tirumala PS.Jatani, UPD, BBSR; Sunil kumar Sahu of Sastrinagar PS.Gosaninuagam and Rabindra Maharana(50) of Hadapada PS.Jankia Dist.Khurda. The arrested anti-socials by Baidyanathpur PS are Ranjan Gauda(40) of Narayanpur village, PS-Jarada, Berhampur and Susil Kumar Panda(47) of Ramachandrapur village, Chikiti, PS-K.Nuagaon Berhampur.
The operation yielded seizure of one country-made pistol with nine live rounds, five live hand bombs, one country-made air gun, six mobile phones, and 22 ATM cards from various banks, three pistols, six empty magazines, 34 live ammunitions, a Mahindra TUV 300 vehicle, and Rs 1,11,500 in cash.
