New Delhi: Senior IAS officer from Odisha cadre R. Vineel Krishna has been appointed as the Joint Secretary of Sports Department under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
An official notification has been issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Department of Personnel and Training in this regard.
Vineel Krishna will serve in this role for a period of five years.
The appointment is effective from the date of assumption of the charge of the post by him, as per the notification.
Notably, the senior IAS officer has played a pivotal role in building Odisha as a major sports hub in the country. During his tenure in the Sports Department of the Odisha Government, the state successfully hosted the two FIH Men’s Hockey World Cups.
