CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- One person is dead after an overnight shooting just outside of Uptown, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Just after 3 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the 100 block of Winding Path Way about an assault with a deadly weapon.
When they arrived, they found one person with gunshot wounds in a parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic, officials said.

Police have not said what led to the shooting or if anyone is in custody. This is the second day in a row where someone was shot and killed in the overnight hours. Early Saturday morning, a man was killed on the 2400 block of Freedom Drive.
