A brush fire off San Pasqual Valley Road in Escondido has scorched 10 acres and is seen as an immediate threat to structures, Cal Fire San Diego officials said.
The flames, near the 17700 block of San Pasqual Valley Road, have the potential to grow to 30 acres while burning in light vegetation, they estimated.
Crews are working to extinguish the flames from the ground and from firefighting aircraft, according to Cal Fire. The threat to structures is on Highland Valley Road, officials said.
The blaze has been dubbed the Academy Fire.
