CAIRO, May 15 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein participated in the meeting of the tripartite cooperation mechanism held in Baghdad.
The three ministers discussed ways to accelerate the implementation of joint projects in the fields of trade, industry, communications, electricity interconnection, agriculture and transportation for the best interests of the three countries.
This is meant to further economic cooperation among the three countries.
During the meeting, Abdelatty asserted commitment to launching a new phase of constructive cooperation within the tripartite framework, aiming to expand the horizons of partnership and enhance joint Arab action.
He also highlighted the importance of following up on technical cooperation with both Iraq and Jordan.
The tripartite meeting also addressed the latest regional developments, topped by the situation in the Gaza Strip.
The ministers reviewed efforts to resume the ceasefire agreement, rally international support for the Arab reconstruction plan in Gaza, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and prepare for the international conference that Egypt is set to host on early recovery and reconstruction.
They also exchanges views on the latest developments in Syria and Lebanon as well as preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit, due to be held in Baghdad.
The three ministers agreed to continue coordination and follow-up through the regular convening of the tripartite mechanism meetings to serve the common interests of the three nations. (MENA)
