A man who allegedly killed his girlfriend by throwing her off a walkway outside her San Ysidro apartment was behind bars Tuesday and facing a murder charge.
Patrol personnel responding to a call from a person who reported seeing a woman fall into a courtyard in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard found Irene Williams, 61, at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Paramedics took Williams, suffering from severe head trauma and a broken femur, to a hospital. Doctors there pronounced her dead.
Officers arrested the victim’s boyfriend, Albert Turner, 57, at the residential complex, where police said Turner and Williams had been in an altercation prior to her fall.
During the fight, Turner tossed some of Williams’ belongings to the concrete below before allegedly grabbing his girlfriend and sending her over the railing, Lt. Lou Maggi said.
Turner was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, set for Thursday.
