The SEC Softball Tournament championship game has a new start time and a new network.
The conference announced Friday evening that the game has been moved up to 1 p.m. ET on Saturday and will now air on the SEC Network. The original plans for the championship game called for first pitch at 5 p.m. ET and to air on ESPN. After looking at the Saturday forecast for Athens, the SEC made the scheduling change.
The tournament’s top 2 seeds, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, will play for the championship. It will be the winner’s first SEC Softball Tournament title.
OU has already won the SEC regular-season title in its first year of SEC play. As the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, Oklahoma received a double-bye to the quarterfinals. The Sooners have wins over LSU (5-0) and Arkansas (8-6) to make the championship game.
Texas A&M secured its highest seed in program history after a second-place finish in the regular season. As the No. 2 seed, the Aggies also received a double-bye to the quarterfinals. In the tournament, TAMU has defeated South Carolina (6-2) and Texas (14-2, 5 innings) to reach the championship game.
