Diana Ross arrived at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5, wearing a show-stopping silver sequined gown, wide-brimmed white feather hat and an 18-foot white train. The legendary singer, 81, revealed during her Vogue livestream interview that the train “has the names of all my children and my eight grandchildren. Everybody’s name is embroidered in that.”
Diana’s 36-year-old son, Evan Ross, accompanied her on the red carpet, proudly proclaiming that his mother is “the best thing of all time” and “is the Met Ball.” (His wife, Ashlee Simpson, was not on the carpet.)
Shortly after her arrival, one of Diana’s daughters, Tracee Ellis Ross, showed up in colorful style. In a nod to the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Tracee, 52, sported a well-cut but whimsical Marc Jacobs suit that played with volume. Tracee’s light pink pants had cartoonishly exaggerated pleating, while her fuschia cumberbund featured a massive bow in the back. She completed the look with an oversized pink-and-maroon fedora.

“I feel like it’s animated joy and artistry,” the actress told Vogue of her look, adding, “Steven Jones is a hat designer that I have been obsessed with. He made this for me and placed it on my head for me, I had chills all over my body.”
Diana has five children. She shares Tracee and daughter Chudney Ross, 49, with first husband, music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein, to whom she was married from 1971 to 1977. She and her second husband, the late Norwegian businessman Arne Naess, welcomed sons Evan and Ross Naess, 37. Diana’s oldest daughter, Rhonda Ross Kendrick, was born in 1971 and raised by Ellis Silberstein. (Rhonda, 53, is the daughter of Diana and Motown mogul Berry Gordy.)
Other families at the Met’s “Superfine” soiree: Pamela Anderson brought son Brandon Thomas Lee as her date, while Stevie Wonder brought son Kailand Morris. Rihanna, who revealed on Monday that she’s expecting her third child with ASAP Rocky, debuted her bump on the carpet.
