Calling all Hunger Games fans. There isn’t much longer to watch all five movies before they leave Netflix, and you’ll certainly want to before November. Sunrise on the Reaping is almost here.
All five movies will leave Netflix later this month. In fact, this is the last weekend, and you have just enough time to work through the four main movies and the President Snow prequel.
Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part 1, Mockingjay Part 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will depart Netflix on Oct. 14, 2026. That means your last day to watch all movies is on Oct. 13, 2026. So, you’ve got three days to work through all five movies!
This sudden removal will come as a shock to many, as the five movies only joined Netflix in July 2026. Licensing agreements for such a big franchise are often short, and this one was just for three months.
The Hunger Games franchise started out as a three-book series, following Katniss Everdeen as she unwittingly became the voice of the disenfranchised in Panem, a world that the whole of North America had become after some war. The dystopian universe was split up into districts, with two children between 12 and 18, one boy and one girl, from each district selected to fight in the annual, televised Hunger Games.
While the first two books were turned into two movies, the last book was split into two parts. Jennifer Lawrence took on the iconic role, showing her grow from a teenager who volunteered to save her sister to the icon of a rebellion looking to bring change to the world.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was the fourth book in the franchise and was adapted into the fifth movie in the franchise. Set during the 10th Hunger Games, it was a chance to see what the games once were, as well as the origin story of President Snow and who the first winner from District 12 was.
Eyes are now on the development of the fifth book in the franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping. The sixth movie will be released in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026, so if you want to watch the original movies to be reminded of Haymitch’s story, then this weekend is your last chance. The prequel is set during the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Haymitch would go on to become the victor, and anyone who has wanted to understand his reclusive, drunken nature will need to watch it as soon as it comes out.
If you miss the Hunger Games movies on Netflix, there is some good news. All five will head to Hulu starting on Oct. 14, so you’ll be able to continue your rewatch before Sunrise on the Reaping.
