(KRON) -- The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help as it conducts a search and rescue operation for a missing elderly hiker suffering from dementia.
San Francisco police recover stolen family heirloom from the 1800sSMSCO said 79-year-old Margaret "Elaine" McKinley got separated from her family while visiting the Windy Hill Preserve at around 2 p.m. Thursday.
McKinley was last seen wearing a red jacket and black pants at the time of her disappearance. Authorities said the picture below was taken before the incident occurred.

Residents and visitors should expect to see an increased law enforcement presence in and around the preserve.
Anyone with information on Margaret "Elaine" McKinley's whereabouts is urged to call 911.
