Tyler Shough had the moment that everybody who has ever played football wants to experience: having your name called during the NFL Draft. The New Orleans Saints made the move, selecting the Louisville quarterback with the No. 40 pick on Friday night.
He was at home with his family when he heard the announcement, and everybody stood up and cheered and gave each other hugs. One of the guests at the party was Shough’s dog Murphy. When everybody stood up to celebrate the selection, Murphy stole the show, as she stood up and celebrated with the family.

— NFL (@NFL) April 25, 2025Murphy was already rocking a Saints bandana, and Shough told ESPN during his interview that they were prepared for anything.
“We had one for every team,” Shough said. “We were prepared.”
The Saints are entering a new era of football, as Kellen Moore is the new coach in New Orleans. The team was in need of finding their quarterback for the future, and Shough is going to be that guy.
For Saints fans, they have already become fans of Murphy. If Shough can go contribute and help the team get back to contending for the playoffs, the spotlight will be back on him quickly.
