Koraput: Odisha Vigilance has arrested contractor Laxmidhara Routaray for misappropriating government funds worth Rs. 56,93,957 in connivance with agriculture official.
The arrest was made in connection with Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 17, dated April 24, 2024, under the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 2018, and sections 316(5), 318(4), 336(3), and 61(2) of the BNS.
Routaray allegedly siphoned off the funds in collusion with Harishchandra Bentkar, Soil Conservation Overseer, under the Office of the Assistant Director Soil Conservation (ADSC), Watershed, Khariar, Nuapada district.
The funds were misappropriated without executing 22 Loose Boulder Check Dams as mandated.
The arrested contractor is being presented before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, today. Efforts are underway to apprehend Bentkar and another contractor, Abhilash Meher.
The investigation is ongoing.
