SERENA WILLIAMS has finally broken her silence on her Super Bowl dance.
Her appearance during Kendrick Lamar‘s half-time show saw claims that she was throwing shade at rapper Drake.
Williams, 43, reportedly dated the Canadian rapper between 2011 and 2015.
The show featured the song “Not Like Us”, in which Lamar accuses Drake of being a pedophile, but he did not sing that lyric during the Super Bowl.
Viewers even claimed that Williams’ appearance was her own way of throwing shade at her ex.
She was on stage for the song and took up a spot on the podium near Lamar and crip walked.
She has refuted these claims and insisted that anyone who thinks that is “sad”.
However, the tennis legend did admit that she could understand why some people may think it was the case.
She told Time: “Obviously, I can see how someone would think that.
“But absolutely not. I have never had negative feelings towards him.
“We’ve known him for so many years.”
Like Williams, her husband Alexis Ohanian has also played down the claims that she appeared in order to hit out at Drake.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner also insisted that she had been trying to collaborate with Lamar for some time before the Super Bowl.
She added: “We’ve been trying to do something together for ages.”
Stephen A. Smith was one person who criticised Williams for her appearance.
He said: “If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass. ‘Cause clearly you don’t belong with me.
“What you worried about him for and you’re with me?
“Bye. Bye.”
However, Williams has also insisted that her and her husband’s minds are elsewhere.
She added: “We’re investing in women and in sports.
“This is literally the last thing on our minds. Come on.”
Meanwhile, Williams has made a move on a new career venture as a producer on a new Netflix tennis-themed drama series.
