It was inevitable that Denver Nuggets Governor Josh Kroenke would address the media following the most tumultuous period of Nuggets basketball in the last ten years. He did so on Monday morning following Game 82 of the regular season, discussing the firings of Michael Malone and Calvin Booth ahead of one of Denver’s only opportunities to win a championship.
Kroenke discussed a variety of other topics as well, but ultimately, answering for why the Nuggets fired their coach and GM with less than a week to go in the regular season was the most important factor.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn is joined by Jeff Morton of the CSG Podcast to discuss the Josh Kroenke press conference with local media today. Kroenke shared reasoning for the Michael Malone and Calvin Booth firings, disputed reports about the team, and explained what Denver’s next steps are as a franchise.
Ryan and Jeff share their thoughts before turning to the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver’s first round playoff opponent.
