SRH batter Abhishek Sharma finally broke free of the shackles of poor form and that too in a blazing fashion. After shattering the record for the highest score made by an Indian in the IPL, the southpaw had a long list of people he expressed his gratitude to. Thanks to the opener’s 141-run knock, SRH chased down the mammoth 246-run total with 2 overs to spare!

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Abhishek credited his mentor Yuvraj Singh and Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav for helping him rediscover his form. He pointed out that his parents were a “lucky charm” for SRH, adding that the whole team was waiting for them to watch him play so that he could bring out the best of himself.
“The whole team is waiting for my parents. They are very lucky for the team and Orange Army. Special mention to Yuvi, I have been talking to him and also thanks to Suryakumar as well. I have been in touch with him and he has been there for me,” Sharma said.

Abhishek goes berserk
The opener smashed his way to 141 from just 55 deliveries, including 14 fours and 10 sixes, just murdering PBKS bowlers on the day. What is even more remarkable is the fact, that is now the highest ever score by an Indian in the history of IPL, surpassing KL Rahul’s 132 in the 2022 edition. Meanwhile, this is also his first ton in the league.
PBKS would rue their missed chance, when they nearly got Abhishek Sharma out for 28, but was caught on a no-ball. Now, Abhishek has 176 runs in 6 matches for his side, and his numbers have drastically improved. He averages 33.20 and with a strike-rate of 200.
