THE Las Vegas Raiders have decided to release Jack Jones ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
Jones first joined the Raiders midway through the 2023 season after being claimed off waivers.
He played three games in his first half-season and scored two touchdowns in as many weeks.
The cornerback also played a crucial role in helping the Raiders to a Christmas Day victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
But now he finds himself without a team.
The Raiders had initially planned to trade Jones to another NFL side.
However, with no other team willing to do business, the 27-year-old has been released instead.
Jones started 16 games in 2024 and recorded a career-best 69 tackles alongside three interceptions.
But he also gave up 698 yards and nine touchdowns for the underwhelming Las Vegas team.
The cornerback leaves as part of an off-season overhaul which is being overseen by minority owner Tom Brady, who is determined to transform the team into a force that will compete.
Quarterback Geno Smith has joined as part of a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, while defensive end Maxx Crosby has signed a lucrative new deal.
Pete Carroll has also been appointed as head coach following the departure of Antonio Pierce in January.
And the Raiders are set to recruit some more names in the NFL draft later this month.
Running back Ashton Jeanty is expected to be picked up by Brady and Co.
