Tom Cruise is remembering his friend. The actor, 62, made a rare appearance at 2025 CinemaCon on Thursday, April 3, where he paid homage to his late friend and Top Gun costar Val Kilmer.
"I’d like to honor a dear friend of mine Val Kilmer for a moment," Cruise told the audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I can’t tell you how much I admired his work," adding that he was grateful for Kilmer's cameo in Top Gun: Maverick, which was released in 2022.
The Mission Impossible star then asked the audience to take a moment of silence, saying, “If we just all take a moment to remember the wonderful time we had with him — let’s just take a moment,” adding, “I wish you well on your next journey.”
Kilmer died on Tuesday at the age of 65, and his cause of death was pneumonia. He was previously diagnosed with throat cancer back in 2014.
