Egypt’s national football team has moved up in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.
FIFA’s April rankings show Egypt in 32nd place globally and third in Africa.
This represents a one-place improvement for Egypt compared to the previous rankings released in December, where the Pharaohs were in 33rd place worldwide.
Egypt’s rise in the rankings comes after victories against Ethiopia and Sierra Leone in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, earning them new points in the global standings.
Egypt’s new points total in the rankings is 1518.79, up from 1513.48 in the December rankings.
Egypt remains in third place in Africa, behind Morocco in 12th place and Senegal in 18th. Algeria is ranked fourth in Africa and 36th globally, followed by Nigeria in 43rd place worldwide.
Globally, reigning World Cup and South American champion Argentina remains at the top of the rankings, followed by Spain in second place, while France has dropped to third.
