Deep Valley Arts invites the community to attend “Wordplay,” a juried group art exhibition at Medium Art Gallery celebrating the creative fusion of visual art and the written word.
This exhibition shows artwork incorporating typography, text, or writing as a central element, whether as a visual component or a means of communication. Artwork on display explores the power and playfulness of language through various mediums, including signs, poetry, altered books, paintings, mixed media, and more.
An opening reception will be held on First Friday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 518 E. Perkins St. during Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk. Invite your friends and family to a fun community event that supports the arts.
There will be music and light food and drink.
There will be a community art project creating redacted poetry. Supplies provided. Redacted poetry is a form of found poetry created by redacting or blacking out text on a page (i.e. newspaper, book, magazine, etc.), leaving only a sequence of words that form a poem. The show runs through Saturday, April 26.
