They say everything’s bigger in Texas. For Steve Sarkisian, that apparently includes comebacks in college football games.
The Texas Longhorns, after being completely out of sync for three quarters, rattled off 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to stun the Ohio State Buckeyes 24-23 on Saturday night.
A missed field goal from Buckeye kicker Connor Hawkins in a 23-17 game left the door cracked open for the Longhorns, who smashed through it when Hollywood Smothers scored his second 1-yard touchdown with 25 seconds left in regulation.

— Brad (@brad_hulett) September 13, 2026Texas outgained Ohio State 236-49 in the fourth quarter. The Longhorns were booed throughout their drives when cutting into the lead because of called run plays. Ultimately, those allowed the offense to build momentum and put together a comeback for the ages.
The Buckeyes get a week to lick their wounds before hosting Kent State next Saturday. Texas will celebrate tonight (and potentially tomorrow) before beginning preparation for UTSA. The Longhorns and Road Runners kick off at 8:00 p.m. E.T. on Sept. 19 (SEC Network+).
