Hugh Freeze knows as well as anyone how passionate the Auburn fanbase can be, as the Auburn football head coach. The Tigers are still looking to break through under Freeze on the football field, but he has a very good relationship for Bruce Pearl.
The Tigers clinched a spot in the Final Four on Sunday, as they knocked off the Michigan State Spartans, 70-64.
Freeze was at the game cheering on the Auburn basketball team, even congratulating Pearl on the floor after the win. He also posted a message on social media, congratulating his friend.
“Couldn’t be happier for my friend Bruce Pearl and Auburn basketball on this season and advancing to the Final Four,” Freeze wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Excited to keep rooting them on!!! WDE.”

— Hugh Freeze (@CoachHughFreeze) March 30, 2025Freeze is entering Year 3 at Auburn, and the team is 11-14 in his first 2 seasons. AU was able to make a bowl game last season, but the upcoming season is a critical one for the Tigers.
Right now, though, his focus is on supporting his friend Pearl and the basketball team on what they hope will end with the team cutting down the nets in San Antonio a week from Monday.
This is only the second time the Tigers have gone to the Final Four, with the other being in 2019. That season, Auburn lost to Virginia, who would go on and win the national title.
The Final Four matchup is against SEC rival Florida, who made it to the Final Four with a win against Texas Tech. Tipoff is at 6:09 p.m. ET on Saturday night in San Antonio.
