THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS are expected to release captain Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Bentley, 28, joined the Patriots in 2018 and won the Super Bowl only a year later.
According to KPRC 2 Houston, New England released the linebacker on Friday with a failed physical designation.
The NFL star missed most of the 2024 campaign due to a pectoral tear suffered on Week 2.
Bentley stated back in mid-March that he has received full medical clearance.
However, the Patriots decided to part ways and that has led to a roster cut worth about $6.4million.
Fans were left surprised on social media as a number of them don’t seem to be on board with that decision.
A number of Patriots supporters stormed Twitter where a few expressed their displeasure.
One fan tweeted: “WTF HES THE ANCHOR OF OUR DEFENSE.”
Another commented: “Uhhhhhh WHY?!”
A third wrote: “Wtf???”
This fan said: “Really hoping it works out but not a fan of this.”
And that one complained: “Dude is f****** elite, what the hell are we doing?”
