Rust is a Western film written and directed by Joel Souza. Set in Kansas in the 1880s, Rust follows an aging outlaw (Baldwin) who comes out of hiding to rescue his teen nephew (Patrick Scott McDermott) after he's sentenced to hang for accidentally killing a rancher, and together, they become fugitives on the run.

“Rust is a heartfelt and emotional story forged in the struggles of the new frontier — a story of the ripples that a single violent act can send through generations and the hard-fought redemption to be found in a world where the line between good and evil can often be unclear,” Melina Spadone, a representative of Rust Movie Productions LLC, said in a statement to People.
When is Rusts release date?
The film made its world premiere at Poland’s Camerimage Festival in November 2024, where Souza and Bianca Cline — who took over as cinematographer after Hutchins' death — made an appearance.
"We are here in a place that she loved so much, probably second only to being on set,” Souza said of Hutchins, per Variety. “I want to thank you all for coming and for taking a few hours out of your day to come celebrate my friend and to celebrate her art and her talent. She really was something.”
Hutchins is also honored in the film's closing credits.
Rust is expected to hit theaters in the United States nationwide and will be available on digital on May 2.
