The Complaints Committee of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, headed by Essam al-Amir, the council’s deputy director on Thursday ruled to temporarily ban the airing of the “B-Laban” company’s controversial advertisement mocking the “El-Abd” company, and to summon B-Laban’s legal representative.
The El-Abd Company had filed a complaint with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation on Tuesday against “B-Laban” advertisement, asserting that it clearly insulted the company’s brand and its founder.
The legal representative of B-Laban, along with officials from the advertising company that produced the advertisement, attended a hearing before the Complaints Committee on Sunday regarding the advertisement’s content, which violates the council’s codes and standards.
The B-Laban company’s legal representative stated that the advertisement had not been broadcast on any satellite channel and had been shared solely through social media.
The company’s representatives said that they were prepared to amend it to comply with the Council’s regulations and standards, without offending competing companies, within a maximum of three days.
The legal representative of “B-Laban” contacted the Complaints Committee on Tuesday, confirming that the advertisement had been amended to comply with the Council’s regulations and standards.
The Council’s General Monitoring Department was tasked with following up and ensuring its immediate amendment.
