It’s March, which means you’ll be seeing more brackets than you would in the average month. Buried within the millions of March Madness brackets being filled out ahead of Thursday’s Round of 64 action, ESPN’s Chris Low has been exploring a different idea.
What if there was a 64-team college football tournament at the end of the season? It would be a disaster, first and foremost, but let’s imagine it was actually feasible from a logistical standpoint: Who would win it all?
On Thursday, Low released his hypothetical Final Four and champion for such an event, as if it were to take place in January 2026. His Final Four played out with 2-seed Clemson beating 1-seed Ohio State and 2-seed Alabama defeating 2-seed Notre Dame.
That means the championship game in this hypothetical scenario pits Alabama against Clemson for the pair’s 4th national title matchup in the past 11 years. And after 2 straight losses in such matchups, Low has Alabama reclaiming the title, 33-27. If you’re looking for the complete bracket, check out Low’s full breakdown here.
Alabama and Clemson are both in contention for this season’s national title, with the Crimson Tide as the 2-seed in the East and Clemson the 5-seed in the Midwest. Can Alabama make another run to the Final Four behind Mark Sears, Grant Nelson and Clifford Omoruyi?
