(KRON) – The Vallejo Police Department is investigating the second traffic-related fatality of the year that resulted in two deaths.
At 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, the Vallejo PD Patrol Division and the Vallejo Fire Department responded to a reported traffic collision near the intersection of Flagship Drive and 7th Street.
Responding authorities located an overturned silver Volkswagen Golf in the southbound lane of Flagship Drive.
Inmate dies in Redwood City correctional center: SMCSOThe driver was assisted out of the vehicle. Emergency personnel extricated the other two unresponsive passengers out of the vehicle. Despite rendering aid, the two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
According to VPD, the driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. It was discovered that alcohol and drugs were contributing factors in the collision, according to police.
