The National Weather Service issued an updated lake wind advisory at 12:22 p.m. on Sunday in effect until 5 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.
The NWS Reno NV adds to prepare for, “Southwest winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and waves 3 to 5 feet for Lake Tahoe.”
“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” according to the NWS. “Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.”
