Katy Daly resigned as girls volleyball coach at Santa Margarita.
Daly coached Eagles girls volleyball for 13 seasons. Her teams won five league championships, a CIF Southern Section championship in 2016 and a CIF State championship in 2017.
The school said in a statement Tuesday (March 11): “This decision was difficult for Coach Daly, but one she felt was best for all parties.”
Daly said she enjoyed her tenure as Santa Margarita girls volleyball coach.
“Santa Margarita has been 13 years of great family experiences,” she said. “My true passion is coaching young athletes to reach their full potential. I wish nothing but the best for the program and the school.”
This past season the Eagles finished 25-15 overall and third in the Trinity League with a 2-5 league record. Santa Margarita advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 2 semifinals in which the Eagles lost to Palos Verdes. They advanced to the CIF Southern California Regional Division I final, losing to eventual state champion Palos Verdes there.
Daly is in her 19th year as a teacher at Santa Margarita.
