A driver lost control of his car in La Mesa on Tuesday morning, leading to evacuations from a nearby hotel — but no injuries were reported.
At around 6:12 a.m. on Tuesday, the driver of a Camaro lost control of the car for as-yet unknown reasons and struck a fire hydrant and a telephone pole, severing both and sending a dramatic jet of water into the air in the 9500 block of Murray Drive.
The car also sheared a gas line, Onscene.Media reported.
Murray DriveThe chain of events led to about sixty people getting evacuated from the Best Western Hotel on Murray Dr., near Anthony’s Fish Grotto.
No injuries were reported. Helix Water and SDG&E were on the scene assessing damage, Onscene reported.
The La Mesa Police Department and Heartland Fire are investigating the incident.
