Kyrie Irving will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season with a torn ACL, according to a report.
ESPN’s Shams Charania was first to break that news on Tuesday morning. Irving suffered the injury in Dallas’ loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday night and had to be helped off the floor.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 4, 2025After suffering the injury while getting fouled, Irving stayed in the game to shoot his 2 free throws — he made both. But afterwards, concern for his status began to grow after he was unable to put any weight on his injured leg on his way off the floor.
It’s yet another devastating blow for a Mavericks franchise who has battled all sorts of injuries and other turmoil during the 2024-25 season. Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford are also all still on the shelf with various injuries. Of course, the Mavs are also still reeling after they traded franchise superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers earlier this offseason.
The Mavericks hoped to make a playoff run this year with Irving and a healthy Davis leading the way, but those chances have been significantly impacted by this injury. Dallas currently sits in the No. 10 seed in the west — 1.5 games up on the Phoenix Suns for the final play-in spot.
Irving, 32, is in his 14th NBA season since getting drafted No. 1 overall out of Duke back in 2011.
