Zach LaVine is starting to look very comfortable with the Sacramento Kings.
The NBA announced on Monday that the former Chicago Bulls All-Star has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week. Jalen Brunson took home the award for the Eastern Conference.
The honor comes after an explosive three-game stretch where LaVine averaged 28.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He also shot 62.3 percent from the field and went 15-22 from behind the arc. Sacramento won all three games thanks to LaVine’s effort and now sits 9th in a competitive Western Conference Play-In field.
This is the first time in Zach LaVine’s 11-year career that he has taken home a Player of the Week Award.

It only took 10 games in a new uniform for Zach LaVine to receive some of the league-wide recognition he deserves. A two-time All-Star with the Chicago Bulls, it’s kind of crazy to think he never earned at least ONE Player of the Week trophy, but I guess it goes to show just how hard it is to do in this uber-talented league. Sadly, it also continues an all-too-familiar trend of players finally earning some flowers once they depart the Bulls organization.
To be sure, the Kings are still very much a work in progress. Making their way out of the Play-In Tournament and securing a postseason bid isn’t going to be easy, but LaVine is starting to give them a chance. After averaging under 20 points on 41.0 percent shooting in his first five games with the Kings, LaVine is back to playing some of the best ball of his career. He is averaging over 25.0 points in their last five outings on 56.2 percent shooting from the field. His recent performance against the Charlotte Hornets – which played a fundamental part in earning him Player of the Week honors – was also one of the best individual efforts of his career.
LaVine scored 42 points against Charlotte on February 24 behind an 8-9 night from long range. He drained four of those threes in less than 2 minutes during the second half. The 29-year-old is now the first player in NBA history to have two 40+ point games while recording a true shooting efficiency of 100 percent or better, per the Kings. This game against the Hornets also marked his highest-scoring contest since his career-high 51 points against Detroit on Oct. 28, 2023.
