CAIRO, Feb 27 (MENA) – The Foreign Ministry spokesperson welcomed Lebanon’s new government which won a confidence vote in parliament.
In a press release on Thursday, the spokesperson commended this crucial step which will contribute to restoring security and stability in Lebanon in addition maintaining the country’s sovereignty and unity.
The spokesman considered this as a new stage for Lebanon to meet the aspirations of the Lebanese people, stressing Egypt’s full solidarity with the Arab state.
He asserted that Egypt will continue offering all needed support for the Lebanese government and national institutions, highlighting the deeply-rooted ties binding the two countries.
He reiterated Egypt’s support for the implementation of an agreement which calls for ceasing hostilities in southern Lebanon and Israel’s full withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
He stressed Egypt’s support for empowering the Lebanese national army and state institutions to put into effect the UNSC resolution 1701 on ending hostilities in Lebanon. (MENA)
