COSTCO customers have praised the wholesale retailer for fixing a long-standing complaint about its gas stations.
Anyone heading to work early will be extra thankful for the update.
Costco announced that it’s extending its gas station hours beyond its typical warehouse club hours.
Costco’s gas stations will now be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sundays.
According to Costco bylaws, only Costco members are allowed to use the gas stations.
Many of its members appreciate the retailer’s effort to keep costs low.
In fact, Costco’s Kirkland fuel is 20 cents cheaper per gallon than its competitors, as reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
For those concerned about increasing gas prices, this came as a relief.
Consumers sounded off in the comments section of a Facebook post saying they are thankful for the extended hours and extra perks.
“Finally EV chargers! Thank you Costco,” one Facebook user said.
Others speculate that the changes come after the wholesale retailer has seen a spike in its customer-base.
According to recent data from Statistica, Costco retained nearly 130 million members in 2024 — a significant increase compared to the previous year.
In 2023, the wholesale retailer only had approximately 120 million members, based on Statista figures.
“They been getting a lot of new members lately,” commented one user.
Costco members appreciate how affordable the retailer is — approximately one third of US grocery store shoppers choose Costco.
With many still battling the effects of inflation, Costco has remained a reliable grocery retailer for the average American.
How To Pump Gas
There are several steps you can take to safely pump gas.
Find Your Pump
Drive up to a pump, aligning your car’s fuel tank with the nozzle. Look for the fuel indicator arrow on your dashboard or the manual to know which side your gas tank is on.
Pay for Your Gas
You can either pay at the pump with a credit/debit card or pay inside. If paying inside, give the attendant your pump number and the amount you want to spend.
Open Your Fuel Lid
Use the lever or button inside your car to open the gas tank lid, or open it manually if your car doesn’t have a lever. Unscrew the gas cap.
Pick the Right Nozzle
Grab the correct nozzle from the pump (regular, premium, or diesel). Insert it securely into your gas tank.
Select Fuel Grade
Choose the fuel grade (usually regular, mid-grade, or premium). Check your car’s manual for the recommended fuel type.
Start Pumping
Pull the trigger to begin pumping. Most nozzles have a lever that locks in place so you don’t have to hold it.
Wait for Automatic Shutoff
Keep an eye on the pump. It will automatically stop when your tank is full. You’ll hear a click when this happens.
Remove the Nozzle and Close the Tank
Carefully remove the nozzle, return it to the pump, and make sure the gas cap is tightly secured.
Get Your Receipt
If you paid at the pump, decide if you want a receipt. If you do, print it; if not, finish the transaction.
Reset Your Odometer
Inside your car, reset the fuel odometer to track your mileage. Usually, turning your car back on will reset it.

From bulk items to its $1.50 hot dogs, Costco members have applauded the retailer’s dedication to quality products at a reasonable price point.
However, it has increased its membership prices for the first time since 2017.
The cost of a Gold Star membership increased from $60 to $65, while the cost of an Executive membership rose from $120 to $130.
In addition to membership hikes, the retailer has been more wary of card sharing.
In many Costco stores, members are now required to scan their Costco cards before or after entering the warehouse.
This is just one way for the retailer to crack down on theft.
