Miranda Lambert is continuing to roll out new songs ahead of the release of her highly anticipated forthcoming album, Crisco.
On Friday, Sept. 18, the country music superstar, 42, unveiled her tender heartbreak track, “Two Things Can Be True.” Featuring a soundscape of dreamy strings, synthesizers, and steel guitar, the tune transports listeners into another era.
With its soft arrangement, Lambert sets the tone as she sings the lyrics of the song with a noticeable ache in her signature voice.
Throughout the track, Lambert, who is happily married to her husband Brendan McLoughlin in real life, explores the complicated emotions of a love triangle. She sings about a relationship in which the man she loves is falling for someone else while the two remain together, capturing the emotional contradiction at the heart of the song and its title.
Of the track, Lambert shared via a press release: “‘Two Things Can Be True’ is probably my favorite song on the record right now. There’s something about it that feels almost like singing a duet with the steel and strings, and it’s country through and through with an old-school Patsy Cline feeling. I love that it found its own little corner of the Crisco world.”
“Two Things Can Be True” comes after Lambert’s recognition with seven CMA Award nominations as an artist, songwriter, and producer. Among those nominations are honors connected to her work on Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” including Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
The track also follows four early album previews, including “Sunset Marquise,” “Till The Going’s Gone,” her duet with Chris Stapleton on “A Song To Sing,” and the title track, “Crisco,” which Lambert delivered a live performance debut of at the 61st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on May 17, 2026.
