A Covelo man was arrested last week on suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, as well as illegally discharging the firearm, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to the MCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Concow Boulevard in Covelo around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 20 for multiple reports of a man shooting a firearm in the area.
While deputies were responding, Round Valley Tribal Police officers reportedly contacted the suspect, identified by the MCSO as Carlos A. White, 39, of Covelo, and detained him.
When deputies arrived on scene, they reported learning that “White was on active Postrelease Community Supervision out of Mendocino County for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Per White’s PRCS probation terms, a search of his residence was completed,” and law enforcement personnel reported that “a firearm and live ammunition were located inside White’s residence along with drug paraphernalia.”
White was then arrested on suspicion of violating his parole, discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, being armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony, of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, and of possessing drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into Mendocino County Jail and held without bail.
