SACRAMENTO – A Sacramento man will not face murder charges for the death of his father after a bar fight turned shooting last month, prosecutors said.
The incident happened at Harry's Sports Bar on Auburn Boulevard in the Old Foothill Farms area on Jan. 26.
That's when investigators said Oscar Alferez Jr. got into a fight with another person at the bar. The fight then spilled outside where his father pulled out a gun and threatened the man fighting his son.
The father was disarmed and Alferez Jr. picked up the gun and fired shots, deputies said.
The other man tried to drive away from the scene and hit the father in the process, killing him, according to deputies.
That man stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.
Alferez Jr. will still stand trial on attempted murder and multiple firearms charges.
