Geraldo Perdomo, D-backs reportedly agree to 4-year contract extension

Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and the Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a four-year contract extension, ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported on Monday.

The contract is reportedly worth $45 million, including a $5 million signing bonus and a $15 million club option for a fifth year, the 2030 season. There are additional incentives for if Perdomo lands top-10 in MVP voting throughout the duration of the contract, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

The 25-year-old is set to make $2.55 million this season, as he and the team avoided arbitration. The deal buys out his next two arbitration-eligible years while tacking on at least two additional seasons.

Perdomo has been Arizona’s primary shortstop when healthy dating back to his rookie 2022 campaign but played only 98 games in 2024 as he spent two months on the IL with a meniscus tear.

In those 98 games, he slashed .273/.344/.374 with 37 RBIs, 26 extra-base hits and nine stolen bases across 388 plate appearances.

Perdomo was an All-Star in 2023 when he racked up a career-best 100 hits with 47 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. He notably had an eight-game hit streak as the Diamondbacks made their postseason run, helping Arizona reach its first World Series since 2001.

He has also taken on a leadership role on the field and in the clubhouse. He joins outfielder Corbin Carroll as young players the D-backs have extended during spring training over the past three seasons.
