The NBA will have some words for Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama.
The two Spurs tipped off All-Star Saturday Night as teammates for the annual Skills Challenge. A timed obstacle course that features passing, shooting, and dribbling drills, the youngster and the veteran thought they found a loophole. When it came time to shoot the three different jump shots, they each chucked the three balls at each rack into the air as fast as they could. In other words, they opted to not legitimately take the shot attempt in favor of saving time.

— Steve Jones Jr. (@stevejones20) February 16, 2025The loophole immediately drew boos from the crowd, as well as the Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell who was waiting to run the course with teammate Evan Mobley. The TNT broadcast also quickly announced that the NBA disqualified Paul and Wembanyama, which immediately drew some frustration from Paul.
Sideline reporter Allie LaForce attempted to get an explanation from the two participants, but she was shooed away by someone who appeared to be an NBA worker. LaForce tried one more time later in the challenge and was denied again. So, yeah, I think it’s safe to say the NBA is pretty mad!
