The city of Greeley will present proposed camping restrictions and gather feedback at a community meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
City staff from Homeless Solutions, Greeley Police, Public Works and the City Attorney’s Office will speak and answer questions about the proposed changes and how they will impact the community.
The meeting will run from 5:30-7 p.m. at the LINC Library, 501 8th Ave. The public is invited.
Attendees will learn how the proposed restrictions fit within existing laws, understand how enforcement would work and the roles of various city departments, explore strategies and resources to keep public spaces safe and accessible for all and gain insight into the complex factors that contribute to homelessness.
“It’s important for residents to understand policies that could impact our community,” Mandy Shreve from the Homeless Solutions Department said in a news release. “We welcome public input and urge everyone to join in — either by attending in person or sharing thoughts online.”
Despite the city’s recent efforts on homelessness, Greeley still lacks a year-round homeless shelter. City officials last year estimated 367 homeless people are left without access to shelter or a place to sleep for part of the year.
A video of the session will be available online on Feb. 25 at SpeakUpGreeley.com. Residents can also share their thoughts with the city in a survey that will be made available on the Speak Up page after the meeting.
