Shafaq News/ On Saturday, LebanesePresident Joseph Aoun condemned the attack on the UNIFIL convoy, emphasizingthat the security forces "would not tolerate" any party attempting todestabilize the country.
Beirut saw, on Friday night,widespread protests and riots for the second consecutive day, allegedly led byHezbollah supporters after an Iranian plane was denied entry. Protestersblocked the road to Rafic Hariri International Airport with burning tires androcks, but the Lebanese army later reopened it. Demonstrators also set fire toa UNIFIL vehicle, injuring one of its commanders, with the organization callingon the Lebanese authorities to conduct a “thorough and immediate”investigation.
In response, Aoun confirmed that "what happened on the airport road andin some areas of Beirut is unacceptable and cannot be allowed to happenagain," urging against falling for suspicious calls that could lead tosimilar actions.
"Anyexpression of opinion must remain peaceful."
In turn, theUN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert called theincident unacceptable and expressed her commitment to working with the Lebanesegovernment and relevant parties to maintain stability and achieve justice. "Suchan act of violence threatens the safety of United Nations staff who worktirelessly to maintain stability in Lebanon, sometimes at great personalrisk," she wrote on X.

HezbollahPolitical Council member Ghaleb Abu Zainab rejected any connection between theparty and the assault, calling the attackers on X “chaotic mobsters exploited by ill-intentioned actors, who divertedattention from the core issue—the prime minister [Nawaf Salam]'s submission toIsraeli pressure.”
