Arson, vandalism reported at Loveland Tesla dealership

An attempted arson and vandalism were reported at the Tesla dealership in Loveland on Friday morning — the third call at that location in the past two weeks.

Around 7 a.m. Friday morning, Loveland Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of an attempted arson at the Tesla location along North Lincoln Avenue, according to a Friday release from the department. Along with this, various vehicles and the Tesla building itself were vandalized with graffiti, some of which was “offensive and hateful in nature,” according to the release.

The department did not release any further details on the attempted arson or what the vandalism to the vehicles and building included.

However, residents on social media referred to graffiti including the word Nazi.

This is not the first call that was made to the Tesla location this year, with the LPD responding to the dealership on Jan. 29 and Feb. 2 for other incidents; they were considered to be of lesser magnitude than Friday’s, according to the Friday release. The department did not release any further information on these incidents either, however LPD call logs show the Jan, 29 incident to be for arson and the Feb. 2 call for graffiti.

The LPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is currently gathering and comparing evidence from the various incidents and seeking additional information from the community. The department is also working with the Federal Bureau of Investigations as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The department believes that, due to the extent of the damage, it is likely others in the area may have witnessed suspicious activity during the timeframe of these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call the LPD tip line at 970-962-2032 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.

Representatives from the local Tesla dealership declined to comment on the incident and a member of Tesla’s corporate media team did not immediately respond for comment on the incident.
