PATRICK Mahomes’ recent comments have not aged well after a situation made him feel awful just days before Super Bowl 59.
The Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback comically reacted to a Chiefs social media post recently.
Mahomes has made it known how frustrated he is about his favorite basketball, the Dallas Mavericks, trading away superstar player, Luka Doncic, to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The news concerning the five-time NBA All-Star came on Saturday night as the Texas native Mahomes reacted to the shocking news, writing on X, “Wait what?” and six minutes later posted, “I’m sick rn….”
The next day, on Sunday, the Chiefs social media team shared a video of Mahomes taking part in a Q&A session.
However, in the early part of the pre-recorded video, Mahomes was asked about his favorite basketball player, and he answered Doncic.
The two-time NFL MVP joked about the Chiefs’ release of the clip that was posted not even 12 hours after the trade.
“Yall gotta chill….” Mahomes responded to the X post.
The Chiefs gave their side of the story, indicating that the video was set to be posted before the deal occurred.
“Never scheduling a post again,” the NFL team replied to Mahomes.
The Mavericks dealt Doncic to Los Angeles alongside Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris in exchange for 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.
Mahomes managed to find somewhat of a silver lining in the deal on Sunday, writing on X, “Kyrie and AD going to be nice tho!!”
Still, the 29-year-old continued to express his disappointment with the departure of Doncic from his favorite NBA team.
“As a Dallas fan, it hurts me,” Mahomes said at a Super Bowl press conference on Monday night.
“But I’m happy that he gets to go out there and be in Los Angeles and try to achieve his dream of winning a championship.”
Mahomes has appeared courtside at Mavericks in the past, including a few playoff games during the team’s run to the NBA Finals last season.
He won’t have time to watch a Mavs game anytime soon with his Chiefs facing the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday night in New Orleans.
Mahomes will look to make history as the Kansas City can earn a third straight Lombardi Trophy – a feat that has never been accomplished in NFL history.
This year’s big game will be a rematch of Super Bowl 57 when the Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35.
Once the big game is over, Mahomes will have more time to mourn the loss of Doncic
