A young Eagles fan is recovering after being hit with debris from a plane crash in Philadelphia last week.
On Friday, a medical transport jet crashed in a Philadelphia neighborhood. The crash killed 7 people, including 6 on board the aircraft, per reports. Amongst those impacted was a 10-year-old boy named Trey Howard.
According to ABC News in Philadelphia, Trey protected his sister from debris but ended up sustaining injuries that required emergency brain surgery. After he woke up, his father, Andre Howard, told ABC News that he asked about 2 things: the Philadelphia Eagles and his sister.
Here’s an excerpt from the ABC News story:
“He asked me, ‘Daddy, what’s today?’ I was like, ‘Monday.’ ‘OK, wait. We didn’t play yesterday did we?’ ‘No, you didn’t miss the Super Bowl,'” Andre said, describing his son as a die-hard Eagles fan.
He was also concerned for his little sister.
“It had me crying,” Andre said, recalling when Trey asked, “Daddy, did I save my sister?”
Howard also received a visit from 76ers star and former Kentucky standout Tyrese Maxey.
“He says thank you to everybody,” Howard’s father said, via ABC News, following the visit with Maxey. “He cries, ‘Daddy, I’m a celebrity.’ ‘No, you’re bigger than a celebrity. You’re a superhero.'”
