Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath have confirmed details of their final-ever live show, which is set to take place this summer (July 5) with a plethora of support acts. The event will see the band’s classic line-up – comprising frontman Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward – play live together for the first time in two decades. It will be held at Villa Park in their hometown of Birmingham, England.

07/17/2024The news was announced on Wednesday morning (Feb. 5) at the venue by Iommi and Sharon Osbourne, the manager and wife of frontman Ozzy. The final live show has been dubbed “Back To The Beginning.”
“It’s my time to go ‘Back To The Beginning’… time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Alongside Black Sabbath reuniting, the gig will play host to performances from dozens more icons of the genre, including sets from Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, as well as the likes of Pantera, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Halestorm and recent Grammy Award-winners Gojira.
Other acts appearing at the all-dayer include Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, Disturbed’s David Draiman, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst. More names will be announced closer to the event.
Songwriter and former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, meanwhile, will serve as music director for “Back To The Beginning.” In a press release, he described the upcoming gig as set to be “the greatest heavy metal show ever.”
Tickets will be available via Live Nation from 10 a.m. (GMT) on Feb. 14. Profits from the show will go to the following charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Villa Park and Aston Villa.
