For 13 years and nine films, “The Conjuring” has asked you to sit in the dark and watch somebody braver walk into the basement.
That’s about to change.
Netflix is releasing “The Conjuring: Unspoken” in October, and it’s the first stand-alone video game the franchise has ever had. The reveal came buried in Netflix’s monthly New on Netflix newsletter.

You’re the One Scanning for Paranormal Signals
Netflix’s entire description runs to two sentences. It asks what’s haunting the Red Lion Inn, then tells you to “scan for paranormal signals and investigate the eerie events troubling a grieving family.”
You’re not watching the investigation this time; you’re running it.
Netflix later clarified that the game is cloud-based and plays on a TV, putting it alongside Netflix Games titles like Unhinged and its party games. That makes it unusual. Most Netflix games only run on Android and iOS.
Horror is having a moment on the service either way, from a gory remake of a 1980s slasher to the highest-grossing Halloween movie ever. This month Netflix also went the other direction, turning a 1999 arcade game into a live-action comedy.
There’s no developer attached. There’s no release date past October. There’s no gameplay footage.
And there’s no word on whether Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren appear, the roles Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have carried across the main films.
Last year, ahead of The Conjuring: Last Rites, Fortnite ran a themed map that dropped players, in first person, into a haunted house stalked by the series’ supernatural entities. That was a promotional tie-in. Unspoken is the first game built to stand on its own.
The nine films consist of four Conjuring movies, three Annabelle pictures and two Nun installments. The Curse of La Llorona sits outside it, never officially folded into the universe.
Last Rites closed out what the studio calls Phase One. The Conjuring: First Communion opens Phase Two in theaters on Sept. 10, 2027.
