SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Rainfall returns to the Bay Area after a long January dry stretch. On Friday, the heaviest rain will stay in the North Bay, with light to moderate showers for the rest of the region by mid-morning. Rain is anticipated to impact the latter part of the morning commute.
A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for all Bay Area counties due to possible excessive rainfall. The watch will be in effect from noon Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday. People who live in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action, weather officials said.
Rainfall will pick up into Saturday, bringing the heaviest and most widespread of showers for the weekend. Most areas should get a breather on Sunday. This will be the best day to plan something outside before heavier rain returns late Monday into Tuesday of next week.
Portions of the Bay Area will see anywhere between 2 to 9 inches of rain by the middle of next week.
Sunrise in San Francisco is at 7:14 a.m. Sunset is at 5:33 p.m.
