OAKLEY — A man suspected of driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a truck while attempting to outrace police, authorities said.

The officer followed the car when it turned north on Teakwood Drive, and authorities said the officer learned the driver was a parolee who had violated the terms of his parole.
Authorities said the officer tried to stop the car but that the 44-year-old Brentwood resident who drove it accelerated.
As he sped away, the man tried to turn onto eastbound Main Street but collided with a Ram 1500 truck that was headed west, authorities said.
Both of the drivers were hospitalized, authorities said. They both were expected to be OK. The suspect remained in the hospital early Tuesday and was not listed in custody in any of the Contra Costa County jails.
